Isn't the Network Password prompt displayed
when Windows starts up a royal pain in the @$$?
If you're like most people, you don't sit in front of your computer wating for Windows to open because that's a waste of time. So, you turn on your computer and go do something useful (like get your coffee), thinking that by the time you return to your computer, Windows will be ready and waiting for you. Unfortunately, if you're connected to a network, or have a DSL or cable connection to the internet, when you return to your computer, Windows is asking for your password, even if the password you use is a blank one! Isn't that the most ridiculous thing? What's worse is that after logging in, you're forced to wait even longer while Windows finishes loading! AAAARGH! Once again, you go off to do something else until Windows finishes the rest of its Startup routine. Wouldn't it make more sense if it was called Windows "Stop-n-Go" instead of Windows "Startup"? Auto-Enter Network Password Utility - New Version 3.0 for Win 95, 98, and ME At DataBasix, we finally got sick of this irritating behavior, and rather than hope and pray for a "fix", we decided to do something about it. We were able to eliminate this annoyance by creating a utility that automatically enters your alphanumeric (or blank) password, then dismisses the password prompt. The result is a smooth Windows Startup! Now, when we turn on our computers, get our coffee, and return, Windows is waiting for us! What a welcome change. We knew others would like this useful utility, so we had to come up with a name. Those of you who know our product line have probably already guessed what we ended up naming it... NetworkPasswordCommander! Not the most elegant name, but it works. "Silent" NetworkPasswordCommander - $14.95 - this version runs in the background without dialog boxes or prompts |
