TIP 5002

TOPIC: Fax-on-Demand Greeting Considerations

Before recording your Fax-on-Demand (FOD) Greeting, consider whether or not you should include an "FOD Index" as an FOD file in your Fax-on-Demand Center. For example, if you will maintain more than a few FOD files for callers to choose from, an FOD Index can significantly improve you callers' experience with your Fax-on-Demand Center by allowing them to have a list of all available FOD files faxed to them first. A caller can then visually review your index, note which one(s) he/she wants, then call back in and request those specific FOD files. Of course, your Fax-on-Demand Greeting should list the FOD Index first in the list of FOD files you want to be available to your callers. For example "...for a list of available fax documents, press 100...for Product A, press 101..."

We're not saying that you should ALWAYS have an FOD Index. We're simply stating that if you don't include an FOD Index, and you have more than a few FOD files available, callers may find themselves "trapped" in your Fax-on-Demand Center, listening to your list of available fax documents over and over again just to make sure they are selecting the right FOD file(s).

See the ESA Basic Greetings for usable examples.
